CAMBRIDGE, N.S. — A 19-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after being thrown from a motorcycle he was driving in Cambridge on July 19.
A Kings District RCMP news release says the motorcycle collided with a truck towing a trailer around 3 p.m.
Police say the truck was heading north on along Cambridge Road “when a motorcycle entered the roadway.”
“The driver of the truck swerved, however he was not able to avoid a collision. The truck and trailer caught fire immediately following the collision,” said Kings District RCMP Const. Jeff Wilson is a prepared statement.
A LifeFlight helicopter transferred the motorcycle rider to a Halifax hospital with serious injuries that police say were not life-threatening.
The truck driver, a 20-year-old man from Brookfield, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP, EHS and the Waterville Volunteer Fire Department responded.
Cambridge Road was closed for several hours after the crash. An RCMP collision analyst was called to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
