Firefighters from three Kings County departments rushed to Berwick’s Lawrence Avenue Thursday afternoon to extinguish a fully involved garage fire.
The fire was called in around 3:45 p.m. on May 6. Departments from Berwick, Aylesford and Waterville were automatically dispatched to the structure fire.
“Flames were coming through the roof, so it was a major fire,” said Berwick’s fire chief, Laurie Saunders.

Firefighters ensured that the flames did not spread beyond the initial structure.
“We had lots of help and we got it knocked down,” said Saunders.
A homeowner was nearby when the fire broke out, but no one was injured.
“He was outside working, turned around and noticed the flames coming out of his garage,” said Saunders.
